It's that time of the year again when the days have been getting colder and shorter. With that being said, as the temperature drops, there is an increasing need for food and warmth.
During the week of October 15th - 18th, Western Foodies held a Thanksgiving food drive to collect donations of non-perishable foods for the London Food Bank to give back to those in need. Best of all, Foodies members who bought 3 items or more received a stamp and were one step closer to receiving a free Chatime drink (a small little thanks from us for helping the community).
According to Mother Nature Network, these are the top ten non-perishable foods to donate:
1. Canned beans
2. Dry beans
3. Peanut butter, or other nut butters
4. Rolled oats
5. Canned fruits in juice, not in light or heavy syrup
6. Canned vegetables, with no or low-sodium
7. Low-sodium soups
8. Canned tuna in water
9. Canned chicken
10. Brown rice
It was so great to see so many of you guys come out to our booths in UCC and Taylor to donate food! Our bag got so heavy that one of the straps broke off. Thank you for all of your donations! We are sure whoever receives these items will be very grateful to have them.
Stay on the lookout for more opportunities to give back to the community with Western Foodies.
