Hello Foodies, Almost all of us in London have been around Victoria Park to catch a small walk in the bustling heart of downtown. With how nice the weather has been (knocking on wood because Canadian weather is a jinx come true when praised), we want to share one of our favourite hidden gems in the area—Lazeez Shawarma! For our Greater Toronto Area (GTA) familiar readers, this restaurant might not be all that new. But we can proudly attest that this location is by no means any inferior to any others; with this flavour profile, the shawarma place is definitely a must-go!
Lazeez Shawarma
According to their website, the first “Lazeez” in Mississauga opened in 2013 with a menu focused on authentic flavours, freshness, and above all, great taste. All the founders of Lazeez actually have very different backgrounds and personalities but found their common love of great-tasting Middle Eastern food to be the drive behind their franchise.
We were actually invited to drop by the day of their reopening post-COVID in February. The manager was kind and very helpful in helping us figure out what to eat, and we are thrilled to say that we loved almost every item on the list (especially for slight accommodations for allergies!).
Chicken on the Rocks
We're pretty sure every Shawarma restaurant has Chicken on the Rocks because it is such a popular item with students. We loved how fresh the meat and rice were, and they were extremely generous when serving their sauce! The flavours were packed in and we couldn't stop until we finished the whole bowl in one sitting.
Chicken Shawarma
As Foodies, it was almost obligatory that when ordering our shawarma (which was larger than pictured) and get almost everything inside. One of our members who ordered this was allergic to eggs, so we couldn't get the tahini sauce. Thankfully, the employees were super attentive and we were able to enjoy the meal without issues. That drizzle of hot sauce is recommended for those who can handle the heat
Half and Half with Beef
Half and Half with Beef is basically fries, rice, and salad with your perfectly marinated and cooked beef. Can you tell me anything better than that combo? For those who have a bottomless appetite or just want to get the most out of our dinner, we recommend getting this super fulfilling dish! The fries were super crisp and the salad was crunchy and acidic.
Lazeez Specialty Drinks: Mango and Guava
These custom-made and cutely packaged drinks taste just as good as they look. Mango never misses, and we were pleasantly surprised by how sweet the Guava drink tasted. Cop one with your meal for the true aesthetic experience.
Hidden Gem Near Victoria Park!
Picnics are all the rad, so get a great take-out box of shawarma or chicken on the rocks and head right over to the park for a great brunch. That's our plan for the near future for sure! Thank you so much for being our partner this year, Lazeez!
